Frequently Asked Questions
Where did the idea of an Archdiocesan Catholic men’s conference come from?
Our shepherd, Archbishop Miller. He’s concerned, as we all are, about the spiritual health of men today and wants to do something about it.
What’s the objective of Man Alive?
To evangelize, educate, and mobilize Catholic men so they can renew families, the Church, and the world.
Who should come to Man Alive?
Men of all ages and levels of faith are welcome. We especially encourage younger men to attend.
How can I spread the word about Man Alive?
Thanks for asking! The best way to get men there is to personally invite the men you know. To help you do this, we’ve created a variety of tools and incentives: brochures, wallet-sized invite cards, this website, and discounts for ticket purchases of more than one ticket. If you’d like a supply of print materials, let us know at oe@rcav.org. Explain to your friends, family members, and associates why you think they’ll enjoy and benefit from this event. In short, take courage, step out of your comfort zone, and ask!
Can non-Catholics come?
Certainly, any man is welcome. They should be aware in advance, however, that it will be a decidedly Catholic conference, with Catholic speakers, opportunity for Confession (for Catholics), and Holy Mass.
Where is the venue located?
The Centre is located between Robson and West Georgia streets on the West side of Homer Street in Downtown Vancouver.
West Georgia Street is downtown Vancouver’s major six-lane east/west connector, extending from Stanley Park at the edge of the city’s West End residential district, through the downtown peninsula at the Georgia Viaduct. The venue is two blocks from the Skytrain station and within steps of Robson Street, the world-renowned shopping promenade.

Is there parking at the venue?
The Centre does not have its own parking lot. There are several pay lots within a 3 block radius as well as metered street parking, the closer being Library square (enter off Hamilton St.) and next door underground at the Westin Grand Hotel (enter off the back alley on Robson St’) For locations map on parking around the theatre please visit; http://www.mygranville.ca/parking_map.pdf.
Public transportation Info: Call Translink at 604.953-333 for exact bus routes, or visit www.translink.bc.ca
Are food and drink provided?
Complimentary coffee and tea will be served in the morning, and may be taken inside the theatre. The venue will be selling juice and bottled water, and there are water fountains in the washrooms. Lunch is not provided, but there are numerous eateries within a block of the venue. Please note that the venue does not permit guests to bring in their own food.
When will online registration close and can I register onsite?
Online registration will close midnight Thursday, October 25th. After that, you may register at the door on the day of the event, but be sure to arrive by 8am. Please bring cash or a cheque. The discount for 2 or more tickets will no longer be available if you register onsite.
Do I need the ticket if I have one?
Yes – please bring your ticket with you.
What is the seating arrangement?
There are no assigned seats. If your group wishes to sit together, the onus is on you to arrive early enough to secure seats. Please note we cannot guarantee this for you.
Are there materials for sale?
Books authored by conference speakers, plus professionally produced prints of the Sacred Heart icon commissioned for Archdiocesan men’s events this year ($10 for large, $5 for small), will be available for sale. Please bring cash or a cheque.
