Renaming of Diocesan Building after Pope

Blessing of JPII Pastoral Center

In honour of Pope John Paul II being declared “Blessed” on May 1, the Archdiocese of Vancouver announced that its main office at 150 Robson St. be renamed the John Paul II Pastoral Centre.

The entrance of the building was decorated with two big banners of John Paul II to mark the renaming. The commemoration took place at 11 a.m. on April 29, where Archbishop J. Michael Miller, CSB, led archdiocesan staff and various dignitaries in celebrating the newly christened John Paul II Pastoral Centre. Students from St. Francis Xavier School performed two songs in front of the building.

Archbishop Miller will also celebrate the beatification of Pope John Paul with a special Mass May 1 at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Rosary Cathedral, at 646 Richards St. downtown Vancouver.
