Adult Faith Formation Courses

Note: In keeping with Archbishop Roussin’s Pastoral Letter on the Synod, you will be seeing some changes in our certificate programmes. One important change is that all our courses will now take place on one day in order to make it possible for more people to attend. All courses offered by the Office of Religious Education are open to everyone.

FOCUS ON PARENTING
COST: $35.00 (if you attend both)
$20.00 (if you attend one only)
Either option includes lunch from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

In our fast changing society, parents are often caught unprepared for the numerous ‘Teachable Moments’ that have the potential to turn every parent into the “primary educator of their child.” Chuck Luttrell, director of the Office of Religious Education for the Archdiocese, will draw on his experience as a parent and an educator in this lively and interactive series on parenting.

“It cannot be that simple” is the response often heard from parents after seeing the current research regarding the benefits of family dinner time. While we all know the effectiveness of the parables in Jesus’ teaching ministry, this session will show how our stories (parables) serve to teach our children the important lessons of life and nurture the seed of faith planted at Baptism.

USING SACRED SCRIPTURE IN TEACHING

Presenter: Kyle Neilson

Description:
Do you get tired of hearing yourself talk? Then let God do the speaking through the Scriptures He inspired! Since “the Word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword” (Heb. 4:12), why not learn how to rely less on your own words and more on His? This workshop will explore the role of Sacred Scripture in God’s plan of salvation and practical ways to make use of its riches in the ministry of teaching. Remember: The Word of God cannot be outdone in eloquence or effectiveness!
