A. Prayer
The students will:
1. demonstrate that prayer is fundamental
in developing an adult faith
2. identify and analyze the obstacles to both personal prayer and
communal prayer and identify ways to overcome them
B. Vocation
The students will:
1. explain how each vocation is calling from God and that each of us
is given the graces needed to live the state of life to which each is
called
2. define chastity and how it is lived out in the single, married,
and Religious vocations
3. examine the vocation of the single life as the response to one's
Baptismal call
4. examine the vocation of marriage a the response to one's
Baptismal call
5. demonstrate an understanding of the Sacrament of Marriage and the
two-fold purpose of sexual intercourse in marriage
6. examine the vocation of life as a Religious as a response to
one's Baptismal call
7. demonstrate an understanding of the Sacrament of Holy Orders
C. Christian Witness in the World
The students will:
1. recognize injustices in the lives of their peers, family, school,
community and the world including issues of sexual injustice
2. develop practical ways of dealing with the social problems they
recognize
3. take an active part in the solutions they develop
D. Service
The students will:
1. complete the service requirement for Grade 12 students at the
school
2. reflect on their service experience in light of the Gospel

A. "Blessed are you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours."
The students will:1. explain the
biblical concept of "the Kingdom/Reign of God" and their participation in it
2. testify to the value of rejecting a dependence on the materialistic
life 3. compare and contrast Canadian cultural values and the
Catholic value of being dependant on God
B. "Blessed are you who are now hungry, for you will be satisfied."
The students will: 1. articulate the
practical role of individual and communal prayer as spiritual food, integral
and essential for sustaining a God-centered life journey 2. plan and
participate in a variety of vocal, meditative, and contemplative prayers
3. plan the steps for their spiritual journey in the first one or two
years after high school 4. explore options for serving in their
parish
C. "Blessed are you who are now weeping, for you will laugh."
The students will: 1. demonstrate an
understanding of the role of the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick in our
lives and at the time of our death 2. explore the role of suffering
in the life of a Christian 3. explain death, judgment, heaven and
hell from a Catholic perspective
C. "Blessed are you when people hate you,... Rejoice and leap for joy on
that day."
The students will: 1. define "cult" and
asses the dangers of belonging to one 2. define "fundamentalism" and
defend the Church's rejection of it 3. Identify moral actions and
attitudes for challenging situations facing young adults in today's world |
