The Place of Burial

Catholic cemeteries are an integral part of the Church's beliefs and rites. Normally, Catholics will be buried in the holy ground of their Catholic cemetery. Reflecting the doctrines and liturgy of Catholic belief, the Catholic cemetery maintains in death the community of faith that was shared in life. Further, the Catholic cemetery is a place of prayer for, and devotion to, the souls of the faithful departed.

To preserve the family unit even in death, non-Catholic relatives may be buried with Catholic family members in a Catholic cemetery.
